Summary and scope
Inland Rail is an approximately 1,600km freight rail network that will connect Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. It will enhance our national freight and supply chain capabilities, connecting existing freight routes through rail, roads and ports, and supporting Australia's growth. Albury to Illabo and Stockinbingal to Parkes enhancements Works in the Albury to Illabo and Stockinbingal to Parkes sections involve extensive enhancements to specific sites across the 355km of existing track running from Albury to Parkes. These enhancements will provide the necessary vertical and horizontal clearance along the existing 'Main South Line' corridor to support the safe running of double-stacked freight trains up to 1,800m long and 6.5m high.
