Summary and scope

Sutherland Shire Council is undertaking upgrades to sports lighting works across sportsground sites. The purpose is to provide a more efficient and better performing system to illuminate the grounds to meet current sporting industry Standards and Guidelines. It is also intended that the proposed floodlighting upgrade implementation works shall substantially reduce ongoing operating and maintenance costs, reduce spill light and glare to surrounding areas outside these sports fields. Council has developed lighting designs for the Box Road sporting fields, these designs meet councils lighting performance requirements and Australian Sports Lighting Standards. The sports lighting upgrade will include: • Replacement of the existing sports lighting luminaires and poles • Design, supply and installation of new galvanised steel poles and footings • Supply and installation of new luminaires • Supply and installation of electrical enabling works for the new poles and luminaires • Co-ordination with the fields reconstruction head contractor • Certifications and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) for all the above work • Ultrasonic testing and reports of the structural integrity of the new poles base metal and welded connections before the end of the defects liability period. This is to be completed between weeks 40 and 50 after practical completion.
